What? There is no previously?
Oops, once again Noelle has flaked and failed to notify the world of her families activities!
Sorry
The month of July kept us busy. Well Justin kept busy, we just followed in his wake.
He attended church camp at Yamhill again this year He has only missed once since the 3rd grade. They have great facilities out there and they have a large mill pond which to a boy is the best thing ever. That is of course until they discover girls, which camp is also good for but we won't elaborate on that.
This was the first summer we have sent him to basketball camp. We always felt they were a little spendy and not super necessary but Donnie was talking to the high school coach one day and he asked " so what basketball camp will Justin be attending this summer?". Umm...none? Anyway he attended Rip City Hoop Camp at Concordia. On the second day he came home talking about the different awards that they would issue at the end of the week and he said "I really want the All American Award". When questioned Justin said it was given to the athlete who works the hardest and is the most coachable, and by the way the recipient gets a free pair of basketball shoes. Needless to say I encouraged him to work hard, size 14 shoes are expensive! I wish I could have been there when he was chosen I am sure he was grinning from ear to ear. It was a good experience for him, the camp director and coach had good things to say about him and I know that really helped his confidence. He had been a little down because it was hinted that the HS coach was going to ask him to be part of the summer league but that didn't happen.
