The 4th at the Fort

Happy 5th of July! I hope all my friends and family had an enjoyable and safe 4th. We decided to go back to Fort Vancouver again this year. It used to be a tradition for us until we got a dog. We were worried about leaving her alone in the past since fireworks cause most dogs to freak out. But since we had noticed that they don't seem to bother Roxy off we went.
The 4th at Fort Vancouver is a BIG event, all day live music, food, carnival, craft vendors, you name it. You can even take a ride in a vintage bi-plane, expensive and a little frighting. They expected about 65,000 people this year. We got there about 3:00 which meant we had to wait 7 hours for the fireworks. Donnie read most of the afternoon, I wasn't in the mood for reading so I walked around a bit and sat and listened to the music. One of Justin and my favorite blues artists was playing in the next to last time slot so he went and hung out by the stage. I spent alot of my time watching two little girls whose parents didn't seem to be keeping close tabs on them, I was determined that I at least would not lose sight of them. They we about 2 and 4 years old and I'm sorry but in a crowd that size those kids should not have been more than 5 feet from their parents. That was not the case several times they would be running around and get 20 to 30 feet away. Anyway I could rant and rave about that whole situation but it didn't ruin my afternoon I still had a good time. The fireworks were beautiful as usual, the also were a little shorter this year usually 40 min. this time only 30. I guess like all other things it is getting expensive.
We got home at midnight and I really wanted to sleep in but alas the animals had slept all day so it was time to get somebody up so they could have their breakfast!
